Fediaf underlines its committment to responsible pet ownership
Top level delegation from European Petfood Federation takes part in sixth “European Pet Night” in Brussels
Brussels, 1st March 2012. Yesterday, the European Pet Night was held in Brussels for the seventh time. Under the auspices of European Parliament members Dr. Horst Schnellhardt and Iratxe Garcia Perez, more than 160 representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament and associations having a connection with pets came together to talk about pets and to listen in particular to the role played by medical detection dogs.
As a cosponsor Fediaf (Federation Europeenne de l’Industrie des Aliments pour Animaux Familiers) participated in the Pet Night, with a broad delegation from eight EU member states.
“We are pleased that this event gave us another opportunity to communicate our commitment to responsible pet ownership.”, says Thomas Meyer, Secretary General of Fediaf. “Everybody should know about the important role pets play in society, the benefits of pet ownership and that owning a pet animal is a responsibility.”
Last year, Fediaf developed school educational material about cats and dogs which is by already in use in classes in a number of Member States. A short video-trailer was viewed by guests of the Pet Night.
This event is held annually in Brussels. Its goal is to demonstrate how pets positively impact our daily lives.
